Join us for the launch of the Graduate Award in Printmaking Exhibition ‘If you know what you know Do you know?‘ on Monday 12th September 5-7pm.
We have collaborated with the University of Leeds and East Street Arts to create the Graduate Award in Printmaking. This award has been initiated to nurture and retain student talent in the city and is available to two graduating Leeds Uni students each year. The award includes a one year membership of LPW, mentoring and tuition, a materials budget, access to printmaking facilities at LPW throughout August and use of ESA Project Space at Patrick Studios for an exhibition in September.
Rose de Villeneuve and Sunny Wong have been working with us on their residency at Leeds Print Workshop for the past 6 weeks.
Sunny’s practice reflects on his relationship with the digital environment and communicates his perception of the increasingly technological world that we live in. His residency project uses the analogue method of printmaking to rethink contemporary digital images.
Rose’s work focuses on Leeds’ industrial era architecture, and the still discernible marks of painted advertisements on old facades. She uses screen printing to explore meaning and challenge our perception of the sensical. She distorts meaning by toying with the multiple layers that make up one image.
Private View: 12th September 5-7pm. The exhibition will run Tuesday 13th – Saturday 17th September 10:00am-4:00pm.
