LPW Member Chloe Harris is an artist exploring monoprinting and painting to exploit the characteristics of familiar buildings in different cities. She recently created the EXETER PRINT SERIES in 2020 and the LEEDS PRINT SERIES in 2020/2021. She is now looking forward to exploring and interpreting other city buildings within the UK and beyond, and is currently working on a MANCHESTER PRINT SERIES 2022.
Chloe Harris’ print work has been exhibited across the country. Work from her EXETER PRINT SERIES 2020 was featured in the Bankside Gallery by the Tate – International Original Print exhibition 2021, as well as 4 prints from the EXETER PRINT SERIES 2020 exhibited with the Society of Women Artists.
She is one of the Society of Women Artists Young Artists of the Year 2021, and aims to get her LEEDS PRINT SERIES 2020/2021 into this years 161th exhibition.
“I started the LEEDS PRINT SERIES 2020/2021 during lockdown. These prints had no evidence of people – reflecting the lockdown conditions I’d experienced. I was commuting from an Amazon warehouse working night shifts (September 2020) and getting off my bus home at 5:30am I’d be taking pictures of the city, getting to know it by night.
I take into my practice feeling and abstracted placement. This sense of placement becomes so relevant, relating to my ambitions to move around the UK creating more PRINT SERIES, and ‘abstraction’ becomes the best expression walking in these new cities and seeing the lines within their architecture.”
Chloe’s Print artwork photography shoots display her work in a media context. Her January “GEO” shoot is another collaboration with reputable northern life models Richard and Ruth, their role as body canvases to her print artwork projections. Their “CELLS” shoot was featured in the February edition of Spectaculum magazine. They continue to collaborate later this year, with more locations in mind.
We look forward to seeing more from Chloe as she develops her PRINT SERIES in different cities.
