Membership Terms and Conditions

  • Your membership commences on the day you make payment and lasts for a minimum 12 month period. Membership is not available to anyone under the age of 16.
  • Membership is £50 per year and includes your initial induction. You may request a further induction upon renewal of your membership.
  • Student and Recent Graduate membership is available for £35 – you must be able to provide valid evidence of your current student status (e.g. university I.D.), or evidence that you graduated no more than two years before the commencement of your membership. This must be for a school, college or university accredited qualification. If this cannot be provided we will ask you to pay £15 before you can use the facilities.
  • You must complete an induction with one of our technicians before you can use workshop facilities. Your induction will last approximately one hour.
  • If you have not held membership for a year you will need to complete another induction before you will be able to use the open access facilities.
  • Your membership will be automatically cancelled at the end of the membership term of 12 months. If you choose to renew your membership within one month after your renewal date, your membership will start from your original renewal date, not the date you paid. If you renew after this time, your renewal date will start from the date you make payment.
  • It is expected that members will already have a good working knowledge of the process they wish to use. If you do not have experience of printmaking but would like to learn, we would advise signing up to one of our courses first.
  • All open access sessions will have technician support, however technicians are not tutors. If you require tutor support we recommend attending one of our courses.
  • Usually there will be two open access sessions per day, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays – 10:00am – 1:00pm and 1:30pm – 4:30pm. Leeds Print Workshop will be closed to members between sessions to allow cleaning and sanitising to take place. No shorter sessions are currently available – we reserve the right to review these session times. Occasionally these sessions may not be available when courses are running. We also close at Christmas and Easter, and on some bank holiday weekends. Additional sessions are provided subject to technician availability. We will provide members with a monthly timetable of activities – please refer to this when booking.
  • Open access is charged at £12 per session, or £20 for a full day. All sessions are subject to availability. We reserve the right to amend these charges at any time.
  • Leeds Print Workshop is not suitable for large scale or commercial print runs. We will do our best to accommodate your needs, but we recommend you contact us in advance to check that we can provide the facilities you need.
  • Leeds Print Workshop reserves the right to terminate membership should a member be found to be using unsafe practices or to be in breach of any guidance given during their induction or set out in the Member Handbook, provided in your welcome email.
  • By attending an open access session, you are consenting that you have read and understood the Leeds Print Workshop membership terms of use, Member Handbook and Health and Safety Policy.
  • We may review our membership fees and if we increase these we will give you at least one month’s notice. However, we will not increase your fees during the first 12 months of your membership.
  • All materials purchased during an open access session will be recorded by the technician and payment will be required at the end of your session. We can accept card and cash payments in the workshop. Please do not ask to pay by bank transfer as this request will be refused. There may be unforeseen occasions when card payments are unavailable. Please ensure you come to the workshop with a means to pay.
  • Be aware of our Equality and Diversity Policy and treat other members, volunteers and staff with courtesy. Failure to adhere to this policy could result in Leeds Print Workshop terminating your membership with no refund given.
  • Please give us plenty of notice when booking your open access session – places cannot be guaranteed and priority is given to those who have already booked. If you turn up without booking we will do our best to accommodate you, but priority is given to those who have already booked.
  • Leeds Print Workshop accepts no responsibility for personal belongings left on the premises. Lockers are provided for use during open access sessions but these cannot be reserved and you must bring your own padlock to secure them. Please ensure you take your belongings with you when you leave.
  • You are not permitted to bring guests or helpers to open access sessions unless they are an inducted member. (Carers and support workers can be accommodated by prior arrangement). Members are not permitted to bring children into the workshop with them.
  • Suitable clothing must be worn when in the workshop. Open toed shoes are not permitted and long hair should be tied back. Aprons and gloves are provided. Leeds Print Workshop cannot take responsibility for stains or damage to clothing.
  • Some products and equipment used for printmaking are hazardous. These items will be brought to your attention during your induction, and guidance given on personal protective equipment to be used. Leeds Print Workshop accepts no responsibility for the misuse of hazardous materials and equipment. If in doubt, always ask the technician.
  • If you have any health problems, or if you are pregnant, please make this known to a member of staff so that we can advise on recommended precautions.
  • Accommodate other members by tidying up after yourself, and ensuring other members have enough space to work.
  • All Covid-19 guidelines must be adhered to.
  • Leave workshops and equipment clean and tidy, as you would expect to find them, and ensure you leave enough time at the end of your session to do so thoroughly. Have respect for equipment and inform the technician of any malfunctions or breakages. Make sure you are cleaned up, paid up and ready to leave by closing time!
  • Members may store their materials in a planchest drawer – there is a fee of £10 for three months for this facility. If your drawer hire payment lapses and you do not respond when we ask you to clear the drawer we may dispose of the contents. Screens, artwork and other equipment are stored at the owner’s risk. As space is at a premium we may ask you to remove equipment. Leeds Print Workshop’s insurance policy does not cover members’ own equipment or artwork, please consider this when leaving work in the workshop.
  • Leeds Print Workshop members are entitled to a 10% discount on all courses (unless the course cost is being subsidised by a third party organisation, where it will be clearly stated if a discount is available). Members may use their discount to book places for non-members. Their membership must be valid at the point of purchase, but it is permissible to attend the course after their membership has lapsed. To receive the discount the booking must be made by emailing hello@leedsprintworkshop.org or in person at Leeds Print Workshop. Bookings made through Eventbrite will not receive any discount. Discounted bookings adhere to the standard Course Terms and Conditions.
