Artist and printmaker Chris Eastham, who is also one of our fantastic team of tutors, creates new body of work inspired by dancers from the Northern Ballet Company.
Throughout February she has an amazing opportunity to work in person with the dancers as they rehearse for their forthcoming production of ’Casanova’.
It was during lockdown in 2021 that she was first inspired to work from some of the fabulous photographs taken from their productions.
Northern Ballet studios are just five minutes walk from her own central Leeds studio. This will be an opportunity for her to work alongside other creatives and be able to share the results of this collaboration.
The final works which will include drawings, paintings and mono prints will be exhibited at ‘Coles Gallery’ located in the Corn Exchange, Leeds. The exhibition will open on Thursday 10th March and will run until the first week in April. The opening preview will coincide with the premiere of ‘Casanova’ at Leeds Grand Theatre. Their production of ‘Casanova’ runs for a week before going on tour across the UK.
As a native of Leeds, who started her formal art training at Leeds College of Art, Chris is really excited and honoured to be exhibiting in this gallery.
If you wish to attend the opening private viewing on Thursday 10th March, please contact Joss Cole at www.colesgallery.co.uk for dates and opening times.
