Leeds Print Workshop has been roaming around West Yorkshire sharing the joy of printmaking – and by that I mean we’ve been keeping ourselves busy with exhibitions, print fairs and community collaborations.
On May 13th it was the opening night for Leeds Print Workshop at Tandem, a gallery, lifestyle store and coffee house near Meanwood in Leeds. On display, a selection of work by Leeds Print Workshop co-operative members. Lovely to see the range of styles and techniques that we’re working in. Stop by Tandem before June 3rd to see the show.
Back in April, Leeds Print Workshop joined in on Print Stuff, a fair held in York. We brought along a selection of co-op members’ work to show, and also ran a monoprint workshop which was enjoyed by kids and adults alike. Print Stuff was held in the historic ballroom at the De Grey Rooms York and printmakers from Yorkshire and beyond rocked up to show their work and swap tips. Events like this are great fun for LPW – we’re all about joining in on a wider printmaking community.
You may have spotted that we’ve built a relationship with the new Ham and Friends wine bar, which is just across the road from Leeds Print Workshop on Merrion Street. (If you’re a fan of Friends of Ham by the train station, then you’re going to love Ham and Friends. We’re certainly a little bit in love with the wine selection and the yummy small plates.) When Ham and Friends were in the pre-opening pop-up stage back in December, they hosted a show of LPW prints. Now that Ham and Friends has had their official opening, we hope to be better Friends with them than ever – stay posted for news of future exhibitions.
Remember that one of the perks of Leeds Print Workshop co-op membership is the opportunity to show your work in our group exhibitions, so there’s another reason to upgrade. We’re finding new audiences for our printmaking all the time!
