Next Steps in Bookbinding

Join us to develop your skills in bookbinding on this one day workshop.
You’ll make a multi-section hardcover book using stitching and glueing methods, and work to expand on your previous basic skills in bookbinding.
The workshop is designed for those who already have some familiarity with bookbinding and want to build on that and discover new and more complex ways of making books.
We will cover bindings which take a bit more time, but still at an easy pace and with plenty of support.
What experience do I need?
This one day workshop is aimed at those who have already attended our introductory bookbinding courses, or who already have some basic skills in bookbinding.
What will I make?
You will come away with a multi-section hardcover book, and lots of ideas for future binding projects.
Who is my tutor?
Theo Rumsby (They/Them) previously worked as a Printmaking Instructor at Leeds Arts University for 10 years, teaching students screen print, etching, linocut, monoprint, letterpress and bookbinding. Before coming to teach art in Leeds, Theo studied printmaking in Portland, Oregon, and also worked as a master printer’s apprentice, an artists’ assistant, and at Portland Art Museum helping to put on shows of prints and drawings. Theo is currently based in London, studying for an MA in Fine Art Printmaking at UAL Camberwell.
Theo is a founding committee member of Leeds Print Workshop, and believes in making the fun of printmaking open to as many people as possible.
Do I need to bring anything?
All the inks, papers, tools and equipment needed for bookbinding will be provided on the day.
Tea/coffee and biscuits will be provided, but we recommend bringing some lunch along with you as lunch options are limited nearby the print workshop.
