Print & Hues is a collaboration between two Leeds Print Workshop members, Sarah and Rhiannon Hughes.
Sarah and Rhiannon focus on screen printing processes and have begun a joint business selling prints at print fairs and markets.
Sarah is a painter and printmaker whose work is mainly landscape based. Recent work has explored images from travels in Japan, particularly focussed on the connection and juxtaposition of natural and urban landscape. She looked to Hokusai for inspiration, particularly his works entitled 36 views of Mount Fuji, many of which place the ordinary occupations and urban townscapes against the rural landscape with it’s special spiritual significance to peoples everyday lives.
As a painter Sarah also enjoys using freehand techniques to paint and draw on the screen and combine with photo stencils to create one off screen prints.
Rhiannon, Sarah’s daughter, is a graphic designer who became a member of the print workshop in 2024. She has been exploring various styles as she develops new screen printing skills. She is currently working on prints which combine abstract shape and colour.
Print & Hues will next be showing at Armley Print Fest on 15th February and at Tilly & Primrose Maker’s Market on 29th March at Leeds Corn Exchange.
